Traditional Thai
Massage in Yarm

The authentic technique practised in Thailand. Your therapist uses palms, thumbs and forearms to apply rhythmic acupressure along the Sen energy lines, combined with assisted yoga-style stretches. Oil can be used if requested. Best for stiffness, restricted movement and desk-bound bodies — it's as much about mobility as relaxation. 60 minutes £50 or 90 minutes £75.

What It Actually Is

2,500 years of practice, in 1 hour

Traditional Thai massage, known in Thailand as nuad thai, has almost nothing in common with a standard spa massage. Your therapist uses palms, thumbs and forearms to apply rhythmic acupressure along the Sen energy lines, combined with assisted yoga-style stretches. Oil can be used if requested and pressure is agreed with you throughout.

The comparison guests make most often is yoga performed for you. Your therapist takes the weight and does the work while your hips, spine, shoulders and hamstrings are opened further than you would manage alone. It is methodical and unhurried, and it reaches tension that surface rubbing never touches.

Most guests choose the traditional clothing-based version and change into the loose cotton clothing we provide. If you request oil, underwear stays on and towels cover you throughout. Your therapist explains the setup before the treatment begins.

Your Hour With Us

What happens from the moment you arrive

Arrive 5 minutes before your appointment and your therapist will ask where you hold tension, whether you have any injuries, and how firm you like pressure. Thai tea is offered while you change into the loose clothing we provide.

Many guests are surprised that the session often begins at the feet. A warm foot soak settles the nervous system before any pressure begins, which is why a guest described the sequence as feet soaked, then stretched, then a deep tissue massage.

From there your therapist works upward in a rhythm: press, hold, release, stretch. Legs and hips 1st, then back and shoulders, arms and hands, finishing at the neck and scalp. Nothing is sudden. Every stretch is entered slowly enough that your body has time to agree to it.

Afterwards most people feel lengthened rather than sleepy, which is the honest difference between Thai massage and a relaxation massage. Drink plenty of water and take the rest of the evening gently.

Who It Helps

Why guests in Teesside keep coming back to it

Desk-bound stiffness

Hours at a keyboard shorten the hip flexors and round the shoulders forward. Assisted stretching opens exactly those patterns rather than only massaging the sore result.

Lower back tightness

Thai technique treats the back as connected to the hips, hamstrings and glutes, working the whole chain instead of kneading the painful spot in isolation.

Restricted range of movement

If turning your head or reaching overhead has quietly become awkward, assisted stretching restores range without you having to hold a single position yourself.

Sport and gym recovery

Runners, cyclists and lifters use it between sessions to release tight quads, calves and shoulders and to keep training rather than losing a fortnight.

Stress that lives in the body

The steady rhythmic pressure slows breathing and drops the shoulders. Guests regularly say the mental quiet lasts longer than the physical relief.

A treatment adapted to you

Oil is optional. Choose the traditional clothing-based treatment or request oil, with pressure adjusted throughout to suit your comfort.

Honest Comparison

Traditional Thai or deep tissue?

Both cost £50 for the hour here, so the choice is genuinely about what your body needs rather than budget.

Choose traditional Thai if you feel stiff, compressed or immobile, if you want your whole body addressed, or if you would rather stay clothed. It is broader in scope and leaves you feeling taller.

Choose deep tissue if you can point at a knot with a fingertip and want concentrated, sustained pressure on that spot.

Plenty of guests alternate between both, and some ask for elements of both together hour. Mention it at the start and your therapist will build the session accordingly. Genuinely unsure? Call 07301 158604 and describe the problem.
