Tara Spa sits at 49 High Street in Yarm, on the cobbled stretch near the Town Hall. We are a small independent spa rather than a chain or a franchise, and everything about how we work follows from that. There is no membership scheme, no upselling while you are face down on the bed, and no menu padded out with treatments nobody here specialises in.

What we do specialise in is traditional Thai massage. Our therapists are Thai and trained in the traditional technique, which is genuinely a different discipline from the Swedish and sports massage most British salons offer. The authentic technique practised in Thailand. Your therapist uses palms, thumbs and forearms to apply rhythmic acupressure along the Sen energy lines, combined with assisted yoga-style stretches. Oil can be used if requested. Best for stiffness, restricted movement and desk-bound bodies — it's as much about mobility as relaxation. A guest with a Thai background wrote on our Google listing that it is very hard to find really Thai massage in Yarm, and that is precisely why the spa exists.

Around that core we offer the treatments that complement it: hot stone, aromatherapy, deep tissue, hot oil, foot massage, and the 90 minute rituals that layer several disciplines into a single session. 26 treatments in total, all of them performed regularly by people who know them properly.
