A 25 minute drive needs to be worth it
We are not going to pretend Yarm is convenient for Darlington. It is about 12 miles, usually 25 minutes along the A67 through Hurworth and Middleton St George, or slightly longer if you go round on the A66 and A19. Darlington has its own massage therapists, and for a quick 30 minutes on your shoulders you would be better served by a local therapist.
Where the journey earns itself is traditional Thai practice. Our therapists are Thai and work in the traditional technique. The authentic technique practised in Thailand. Your therapist uses palms, thumbs and forearms to apply rhythmic acupressure along the Sen energy lines, combined with assisted yoga-style stretches. Oil can be used if requested. Best for stiffness, restricted movement and desk-bound bodies — it's as much about mobility as relaxation. That is a different discipline from Swedish or sports massage, not a variation on it, and it is not widely available west of the Tees.
The other reason people drive over is the 90 minute rituals. Steamed Thai herbal compresses, aromatherapy oils and head massage layered into an unbroken session is a spa experience rather than an appointment, and guests routinely tell us it is the only massage that keeps working for a week afterwards.

Typical drive time
The direct route is the A67 east through Hurworth-on-Tees and Middleton St George, then into Yarm from the west. Alternatively take the A66 towards Teesside and come down the A19 and A135. We are at 49 High Street, on the cobbled stretch near the Town Hall. Yarm also has its own railway station on the line through Darlington, a short walk from the High Street.
Yarm High Street offers a free 1st hour then £2 for 1 to 3 hours, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. If you are booking a 90 minute ritual, the all day car parks at West Street, The Old Market, Yarm Wharf and Castle Dyke Wynd are £3.50 and remove any clock watching. Parking is free after 5pm and all day Sunday.
