For The Overloaded Mind

Aromatherapy Massage
in Yarm

Flowing full body massage with essential oils blended for how you actually feel that day. The treatment guests book when the problem is in their head as much as their shoulders. 60 minutes, £60.

2 Routes At Once

Worked into the skin and breathed in at the same time

What separates aromatherapy massage from an ordinary oil massage is that the oil is the treatment rather than the medium. Your therapist blends a small quantity of essential oil into a carrier oil based on a short conversation about how you are sleeping, how wound up you feel, and whether you want to be calmed or lifted.

During the hour those aromatic compounds reach you twice over. They pass through the skin as she works, and you inhale them continuously from the warmth of your own body and the diffuser in the room. Scent connects directly to the limbic system, the part of the brain that handles emotion and memory, which is why a smell can change your mood faster than a thought can.

The strokes themselves are long, warm and rhythmic rather than probing. This is not the treatment for a specific knot. It is the treatment for the week that has left you unable to sit still.

The Blends

How your oils are chosen

For sleep and anxiety. Lavender and chamomile lead, long used to slow a racing mind. Guests who book late afternoon appointments for this reason often say they sleep properly for the 1st time in a fortnight.

For heaviness and congestion. Eucalyptus and peppermint open the chest and clear the head, a good choice in a damp Teesside February or when a cold has left you fogged.

For flatness and fatigue. Citrus oils and lemongrass are brightening rather than sedating, for when you need to feel human again rather than fall asleep.

For aching muscles. Warming oils such as ginger and black pepper pair with firmer pressure when you want both relaxation and relief.

Tell your therapist if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, epileptic, on medication or prone to skin reactions. Some oils are avoided in those cases, and we would always rather know 1st. We do not offer massage to guests who are pregnant at any stage.

Who It Helps

The right choice when the tension is not only physical

Stress that will not switch off

For guests whose minds keep working even lying face down. Scent shortcuts the thinking brain in a way that pressure alone does not.

Poor sleep

A calming blend late in the day sets you up for a genuinely deep night, which is why this treatment is popular midweek rather than as a weekend treat.

1st time having a massage

Gentler and more predictable than Thai or deep tissue, with nothing intense to brace against. A comfortable introduction.

Low mood in dark months

Warmth, candlelight and a brightening blend make a real difference through a North East winter.

Sensitive to firm pressure

If deep work leaves you sore or you simply dislike it, this delivers relaxation without any of that.

Dry skin and dull days

An hour of nourishing oil worked properly into the skin is a quiet cosmetic benefit alongside everything else.
