A couples massage at Tara Spa is 1 appointment for 2 guests. You enter the same warm treatment room, settle onto 2 separate beds and each have your own therapist working at the same time. The experience is shared, but the treatment is still personal to each body.
Partners book it for a quiet hour together, but it is not limited to romantic couples. Friends, sisters, parents and adult children are equally welcome. The point is simply to switch off together without taking turns or arranging 2 different appointment times.
Choose the style you both want, then tell your therapists separately about pressure, old injuries and the areas that need attention. One guest can ask for firm work while the other stays gentle. Nobody has to tolerate somebody else's preferred pressure.

Quiet warmth
Relaxing Hot Oil uses long, flowing work and warm oil. It is the calmest place to start if either guest is new to massage or prefers gentler pressure.
Firm focused work
Couples Deep Tissue gives both therapists more time to work through stubborn tension, while the pressure is adjusted separately for each guest.
Heat without heavy force
Couples Hot Stone combines warm oil with heated basalt stones. The warmth helps tense areas soften without relying on the strongest pressure.
A complete 90 minutes
Body, Mind and Spirit combines hot stones, relaxing oil work and a soothing head massage for 2 across an unhurried appointment.
Aromatherapy calm
Couples Aromatherapy adds an essential oil blend chosen on the day, with 90 minutes for a slow full body treatment rather than hurried focused work.

What To Expect
How the appointment works from arrival to finish
Arrive 5 minutes before your appointment so both guests have time to settle. Your therapists will ask about pressure, injuries, health conditions and any areas you would like them to avoid or spend more time on. Answer separately because the same treatment can feel very different to 2 people.
For oil based treatments, underwear remains on at all times and towels cover each guest. You are never fully undressed, and the therapists leave the room while you get ready. The room stays warm, quiet and private throughout the appointment.
Talking is optional. Some pairs chat at the beginning and then fall quiet, while others prefer silence from the start. Your therapists only need you to speak up about pressure, temperature or comfort.

Before You Book
A shared booking still needs 2 honest conversations
Tell us about recent surgery, injury, reduced skin sensation, circulatory concerns, osteoporosis, diabetes or blood thinning medication before the session. A treatment can often be adapted, but your therapist needs that information before pressure or heat is applied.
Tara Spa does not offer massage during pregnancy at any stage. Massage is also not appropriate when somebody has a fever, infection, fresh injury, open wound or severe unexplained pain. If either guest is under medical care, check with the relevant clinician before booking.
